A MAN is fighting for his life after being crushed in a pressing machine in Melbourne.

The man, aged in his early 20s, was rushed to hospital with abdominal and pelvic injuries, ambulance spokesman Phil Cullen said.

Mr Cullen said the man was caught in the machine at a factory in Somerton Park Drive, Campbellfield, shortly before 10am (AEDT) today.

“He was crushed inside the machine and is now being taken by intensive care paramedics to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition,” Mr Cullen said.

Details about the type of machine and the factory were not yet available.
