Before Commencing Forklift Work:

Day Operations:
Safety footwear, high visibility shirt or vest, sun protection if required (broad brim hat, sun screen, tinted safety glasses).

Night Operations:
Safety footwear, safety vest or shirt suitable for night work (i.e. with reflective strips).

  • Seatbelt to be worn at all times.
  • Operate smoothly.
  • Travel slowly when turning.
  • Don’t turn on inclines.
  • Ensure that there is enough room for the tail to swing around.
  • Travel with load close to the ground.
  • Keep clear of upright mast and carriage lift chains.

If a warning light comes on STOP the forklift truck IMMEDIATELY and seek assistance to rectify.

Forklift Operators should:

  • Have a current certificate to operate forklift (load shifting equipment).
  • Be trained or under instruction by an authorised person.
  • Be shown the forklft log book.

  1. The item of plant requires a WH&S approved certificate to operate.
  2. Training log books are required for all trainees and whilst learning, they must be under the supervision of a licensed operator.
