General Concrete Helicopter Safety Information: (extract only)

The Concrete Helicopter Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 12 page procedure outlining the safety steps for use of a Concrete Helicopter. 

The Concrete Helicopter procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System. 

The Concrete Helicopter procedure can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.

Concrete Helicopters (Also referred to as Power Trowels, Cement Trowels, Helicopters / Choppers or Cement Floats) can be either petrol or electrically powered.

Concrete Helicopter Pre Commencement Checks

• Place the Power Trowel within close proximity to the work area.

Undertake a final check of:

• All relevant PPE;
• The Power Trowel ( check the condition of the blades & ensure guard is fitted)
• Work area.

On completion of trowelling activities ensure:

• Unit / Power is turned off and disconnected;
• Allow Trowel sufficient time to cool down prior to handling;
• Thoroughly wash all concrete product off unit and blades;
• Remove any waste created during activity
