Franna Loading and unloading Information:

This SWMS is a comprehensive 19 page procedure outlining the safety steps for the use of Mobile Cranes when loading and unloading trucks.

Once downloaded, this Work Method Statement (WMS) is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall WHS System.

This SWMS covers general aspects associated with loading and unloading trucks using mobile cranes. This does not include transfer of bulk goods (such as fuel) in tankers. It is advised that this SWMS be used in conjunction with Mobile Crane Operation SWMS.

Planning: (extract only)

Ensure all lifting attachments and lifting gear are suitable for the types of loads and used for their designed purpose. Ensure all equipment is marked with Safe Working Load (SWL).

Determine suitable loading/unloading sites. Ensure:

• Clear of overhead services/power lines and other obstructions (buildings, tree branches, etc)
• Suitable ground surface/conditions (check soil compaction and type, bridges excavations, embankments, slopes, holes, drop-offs, pits)
• Sufficient room for operation of cranes
• Clear travel path to / from delivery area

Note: Do not operate mobile cranes on soil that has been recently backfilled or in close proximity to trenches/pits etc. Seek Geological surveys as required.
