This Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive document outlining the safety steps, main hazards, risks and controls associated with the driving and operating a diesel or petrol fuelled Water Truck, including delivery of water and spraying of water on ground surfaces. Water trucks have a spray boom fitted to the rear of the truck to spray water for the purpose of dust suppression.

This SWMS does not cover changing tyres on Water Trucks, or driving water trucks on Mining sites and does not cover hazardous manual tasks, traffic control, working with the general public, dust suppression or noise control in sufficient detail. Dedicated SWMS should be developed for these tasks, and for any risks not covered in this SWMS.

This SWMS includes:

  • PPE
  • Safety Notes
  • Planning
  • Preparation
  • Pre-Operational Inspection
  • Operation
  • Maintenance
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Review
  • References
  • Employee sign off section
  • Hierarchy of Controls
  • Risk Assessment Matrix
