General Asbestos Removal Safety Information:
Asbestos Removal is extremely dangerous. This Work Method Statement is a vital part of a safe work system.
It outlines the steps for Friable Asbestos Removal, the risks or hazards of each step and control measures.
Friable Asbestos means asbestos-containing material which, when dry, is or may become crumbled, pulverised or reduced to powder by hand pressure. Common examples: sprayed pipe lagging, gasket covers, and insulation.

Respiratory Protection-ensure:
- Persons are deemed medically fit to wear
- Issued to individuals
- Fit testing is conducted by competent person
- Complete facial seal (no facial hair)
Note: Continuous flow positive pressure respirators should be provided for persons with beards/stubble. Use correctly- fitting air-supply hoods for persons who need prescriptions glasses.
Do not leave respirators in asbestos contaminated area when not in use. Do not leave hanging around neck.
