General Painting Safety Information :

The Painting Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 7 page procedure outlining the safety steps for general Painting. It does not include paint stripping/removal or spray painting.

The Painting procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.

The Painting procedure can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.

Storage and Transit

Keep quantities to a minimum wherever possible.

Ensure adequate ventilation and spill containment.

Ensure no ignition sources in area.

Note : Ignition sources include pilot lights, stoves, heaters, cigarettes, matches/lighters, grinding, welding, power points, lighting, light switches, radio transmitters, mobile phones, battery powered forklifts etc.

Keep all containers labeled and closed when not in use.

Provide facilities for disposal of rags etc.

Keep paints outside of main vehicle cabin if possible. Secure so paints cannot move/become damaged/spill during transit.
