Inspect intended worksite.  Ensure:
  • Sufficient space for telehandler  
  • Ground is firm and suitable (seek geographic reports if in doubt)
  • Traffic management plan in place
  • Adequate lighting (especially during night works)
  • Ensure operators have certification and competencies for use of telehandler and recognised hand signals/ communication system used between operator and ground guide/spotter. 
  • Inspect telehandler before use. Check:
  • Load charts and SWL displayed and legible
  • Controls functional and labelled
  • Step plates, grab bars, pedals and controls clear of dirt, grease, debris etc
  • Cabin screens are clean, undamaged
  • Tyre pressure equal and as per manufacturer
  • Attachments correct for task
  • Attachments securely latched – quick hitch mechanism in good condition, locking pins in place and completely engaged
  • Unit serviced/maintained as required by manufacturer
