• Building plans are available
• Suitable person (such as a licensed electrician) is sought for advice on type, condition and location of electrical appliances/cables/lighting etc 
• Roof/ceiling spaces have been assessed by competent person (such as structural engineer) to ensure surface is capable of holding weight of persons and equipment 
• No go zones (such as skylights, asbestos, areas that many contain brittle or unsuitable work areas, degraded electrical cables are marked and barricaded.
• Appropriate equipment is used for access to heights (above 2m).
