Preparation

Select appropriate placement for pool. Consider:

• Fencing
• Property lines
• Proximity to buildings/structures
• Trees and root systems
• Overhead obstructions (trees, power lines etc)
• Accessibility of excavator to area
• Local permit / Code requirements
• Underground utilities
• Septic tank/ leaching fields
• Design specifications as required
• Lay of land and any excavation required

Provide:

• Induction for all workers
• Sufficient lighting
• Suitable amenities
• Communication equipment
• First Aid supplies and trained first aiders

For turf cutters. Ensure:

• Adequate lighting (daylight only)
• Electric models not used in inclement weather
• Operator not fatigued or under influence of drugs/alcohol

• Operator able to handle force/weight of unit
• Operating manual available
• Area clear of hazardous materials (wire, tree roots etc)
