Develop site specific SWMS for installation and dismantling activities. Include safe use of relevant height access equipment.

Ensure correct edge protection system installed. Consider:

• Access points
• Height and pitch of roof
• Cladding materials, condition and method of fixing 
• Obstructions under roof area
• Rafter truss length
• Whether system can be fixed to structural members
• Building materials and condition
• Structural strength to support required load
• Width and type of eaves
• Batten type
• Gutter and fascia types
• Proximity to utilities and power lines
• Presence of hazardous materials/conditions. Example:

Consult roof design engineer for advice on correct system.

Ensure all components of system meet relevant Australian Standards (AS 4994.1)

Ensure system can support expected loads and able to withstand likely impact from person falling onto system. Examples:

• Not less than 600N static load in any direction
• Dynamic loads from impact of person falling. Take into account:
  • Pitch
  • Sliding distance
  • Wind and environmental loads
