General Air Compressor Safety Information:
The Air Compressor Safe Work Procedure or Work Method Statement has been developed for employers to be able to give direct instructions on how to operate an Air Compressor safely.
The document can be used as part of an Induction Process, submitted with a tender or simply implemented into your existing OHS System.
Air Compressor Information:
The Air Compressor Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 10 page procedure outlining the safety steps for the use of a Diesel Operated Portable Air Compressor. This SWMS does not include air-line respiratory compressed air systems (supplied breathing air).
The Air Compressor procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.
The Air Compressor procedure can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.
Planning to use an Air Compressor:
Ensure unit is able to be placed in safe location:
- clear of flammables goods stores
- stable ground
- clear of mobile plant
- clear of access ways
- so hoses do not pose a tripping hazard, or would be subjected to run-over by mobile plant.
- well ventilated
- access to fresh air for intake.
