Concrete- Waffle Pod Information:

The Concrete- Waffle Pod Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 16 page procedure. This SWMS covers general aspects associated with handling, delivery and placement of wet concrete being placed into a waffle pod raft system.

This does not include suspended slabs, tilt-up/ pre-form slabs, formwork, work at heights or use of machinery associated with concrete delivery in sufficient detail. A dedicated SWMS must be developed for these tasks as appropriate.

The Waffle Pod / Raft Slab concrete pour - Work Method Statement (WMS) is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.

Preparation:

Liaise with Principal Contractor. Ensure following is provided before work commences:

• Site specific induction (include location of amenities, first aid facilities, emergency plans and evacuation points, incident reporting, communication, contact persons etc)
• Health and Safety Rules for site
• Supervisory arrangements
• PPE requirements for site
• Types of hazards at site
• Site plans - showing no go zones for pedestrians
• Traffic Management plans
• Relevant SWMS and JSA's
• Site security requirements
• Ensure all persons entering construction site have a Construction Induction Card (or equivalent).

Set-up work area.

• Work area, including travel path, is cleared, planks placed and secured where required (ensure wheelbarrows etc are not pushed through sand/uneven terrain
• Sufficient lighting
• Suitable weather conditions (no extreme temperatures, rain or winds). No booms used if storm likely.
• Hazards such as plumbing pipes etc are marked.
• Clear of hazardous works (eg: asbestos removal)
• Barricade surrounding area:
  • Immediate zone surrounding work
  • Under and adjacent to booms and pumping equipment
  • Travel path of lifting equipment/cranes/delivery chutes
• Electrical leads are not placed in areas where they may be run over, damaged or exposed to water (unless rated for wet environments)
