Excavator Attachment - Forest Mulcher Information:
The Excavator Attachment - Forest Mulcher Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 9 page procedure. This SWMS covers the use of a Forest Mulcher when attached to an excavator. This SWMS must be used in conjunction with Safety Culture's Excavator SWMS.
The Excavator Attachment- Forest Mulcher procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.
The Excavator Attachment- Forest Mulcher Work Method Statement can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.
Pre-operational Inspection:
Inspect mulcher attachment. Ensure:
- Safety decals are attached and legible
- Correct level of hydraulic oil for proper operation
- Hydraulic oil is not contaminated or discoloured
- No leaks
- Hoses and fittings are free of damage
- All fasteners are in good working order and tightened as required
- Blades and sharp and undamaged
- Guards are in place and functional
- No damage to unit or cracked welds.
- Maintained as per manufacturer's instructions
Inspect quick-hitch device (if applicable). Ensure:
- Designed for use with attachment
- Maintained and in good working order
- Safety pins and locks available, in good working order

Marked with the following
- Manufacturer's name, make, model and serial number
- Quick hitch weight
- Maximum rated capacity
- Capacity of each lifting point
If damage or faults detected, do not use. Follow tag-out/lock-out procedures and report to supervisor immediately.
