Hygiene Services Information:
The Hygiene Services Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 13 page procedure. This SWMS covers Servicing Feminine Hygiene Units, Air Freshener Units, Vending Machines and Medical Units, and placement of Bio tabs into cisterns and urinals.
This SWMS does NOT cover disposal of infectious or biological waste.
The Hygiene Services procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.
The Hygiene Services Work Method Statement can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.
Preparation
Ensure all employees are trained in "Standard Precaution" procedures. This involves treating all biological materials (such as blood, human tissue etc) as infected.
Wear PPE as required for task. Examples:
- Goggles/facemask
- Disposable gloves
- Leather /puncture proof gloves
- Disposable face masks (P1 or surgical type)
- Long sleeves and pants may be adequate. Disposable cover-alls for spills.
- Cover all open-wounds (use suitable strength band-aids etc).
- Ensure footwear is fully enclosed and capable of being cleaned thoroughly (avoid laces, absorbent materials).
Provide options for vaccinations as relevant (HBV or TB)
Ensure operator has:
- Valid Driver license for transport vehicle with Dangerous Goods endorsements if required
Plan communication system for working alone. Ensure supervisor notified of leaving time, the intended work route and the expected return time. Provide reliable communication devices. Ensure mobile phone has service. Provide safety information in appropriate languages. Ensure Waste Transport Certificates are obtained as needed.
