Sewing Machine - Industrial Information:
The Industrial Sewing Machine Operation Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 11 page procedure outlining the safety steps for the use of industrial sewing machines.
The Sewing Machine - Industrial Work Method Statement (WMS) is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall WHS System.
This SWMS covers general hazards associated with the use of Industrial Sewing Machines. This does not include related tasks such as cutting/measuring etc.
Main hazards include: - Electric shock
- Musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) from hazardous manual tasks
- Slips, trips
- Radio-frequency Radiation (RF)
- Puncture wounds
- Entanglement
- Struck by ejected object (eye injury)
- Exposure to nuisance dusts/fibres
- Noise (Noise is subject to type of machines and number in operation. Assess risk as per conditions at site. Example: If persons are required to raise their voice to be heard when standing approximately 1m apart, noise levels may exceed the exposure standard and controls should be implemented).
The Sewing Machine - Industrial Work Method Statement can be used as part of your WHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.
