Welding- Spot Information:
The Welding- Spot Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 8 page procedure. This SWMS involves the use of a Spot Welding Machine.
The Welding- Spot procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand. It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System.
The Welding- Spot Work Method Statement can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.
Planning:
Ensure machine is placed in an area where sparks cannot make contact with flammable materials (at least 10m away from flammables – or as specified by manufacturer).
Check for cracks in walls/floor where sparks may enter.
Ensure:
Safety switch/ RCD is installed and equipment is grounded (to be installed by suitably qualified persons).
- Safe Operating Procedures are available
- Manufacturers' instructions/manual available.
- First Aiders and First Aid Kit provided
- Fire protection equipment is provided (in test date, accessible to operator)
- Guards are in place as per manufacturer's instructions.
- Adequate ventilation is provided as required (mechanical extraction).
- Sufficient lighting
Suitable welding screens are used as required.
