The Guillotine Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive 5 page procedure outlining the safety steps for cutting metal with a Guillotine.
The Guillotine procedure is ready to use and is not a blank template. Simply add your company details, ABN, and include any site specific details or risks and make it specific to the task at hand.
It is then ready for printing and to be incorporated as part of your overall OHS System. The Guillotine procedure can be used as part of your OHS inductions, for Tool box talks or tender applications.
Pre-operational checks
Inspect guillotine. Ensure :
- Power cord undamaged/good condition.
- No trip hazards present in work area.
- Moving parts are lubricated and free of dirt/rust.
- Feed table clear of debris.
- Guards in place, undamaged (include any motor or fly wheels covers).
- Emergency stop functional.
- Area clear of other persons.
- Controls labelled and working correctly.
- Cutting table is free of scraps and tools.
- Foot pedal is guarded to prevent accidental activation.
If missing or damaged parts, do not use. Report and tag out.
Ensure :
- Rings, bracelets, watches etc are removed.
- Long hair is tied back.
- No loose clothing or gloves are worn during cutting.
