This Hazardous Manual Tasks Module will assist Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU’s) through the requirements under the Work Health & Safety (WHS) Act & Regulations, 2011, to eliminate or reduce the risk of worker’s receiving a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) related to Hazardous Manual Tasks. MSD includes, but is not limited to, injuries such as sprains, back injuries, damage to muscles, tendons, discs, nerves, joints and bones.
This Module provides guidance to help manage the risk associated with Hazardous Manual Tasks, including procedures to help identify Hazardous Manual Tasks, how to undertake a Risk Assessment and select appropriate controls.
It is expected that all persons read and understand this Module before starting work that involves manual handling.
