Road accidents are the cause of most fatalities in the road transport industry, and driver fatigue is often a factor. Workers have also been killed or seriously injured after falling from the top of their trucks while loading, checking or securing goods. More than 80% of severe injuries among road transport workers, however, are sustained while not driving. Most of these injuries are the result of manual handling, slips, trips and falls and being injured during loading/unloading practices involving forklifts.
Communicate your orgnisations dedication to providing all relevant workers with a workplace that is, as far as is reasonable, safe and without risks to health and safety. This Drivers’ Safety Manual has been developed to provide guidance and information for drivers employed by your organisation to prevent injury or illness.
