This plastic Blow Moulding Machine Safe Operating Procedure (SOP) provides a way for your business to outline step-by-step safe processes when operating a plastics blow moulding machine.

  • Provides instructions on the use of the equipment both prior to and during operation.
  • Ensures workers recognise and manage associated hazards and risks involved.

SOP Procedure:

  1. Operate in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
  2. Wear prescribed PPE
  3. Set all machine temperatures for the resin type
  4. Purge out all residual stagnant material with fresh resin
  5. Allow temperatures to reach set point and allow to ‘soak’
  6. Start the screw and using low speed ensure there is no blockage
  7. Open the hopper to allow resin granules to enter the screw feed
  8. Monitor torque through drive motor current and melt pressure transmitters
  9. Start molding and adjust as necessary
  10. On completion - Purge and shutdown
