Drill Press SOP:

Procedure:
- Follow the pre-operational checklist in the manufacturer’s operational manual, ensure:
- Operate in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
- Wear prescribed PPE - DO NOT wear gloves
- Select drill speed
- Adjust V belt
- Insert drill bit into the chuck and tighten with the chuck key
- Commence drilling
- Maintain a pressure until the drill is about to break through the other side of material
- Shavings should be kept to a minimum length by regularly clearing the drill bit
- When drilling metal be aware of hot swarf
- Feed the bit smoothly into the work.
