  • Pre-Operational Inspection
  • Operation Sequence
  • On Completion Job Steps

Lathe Brake Safe Operating Procedure Extract Only

  • Remove adjusting keys and wrenches from the tool before turning it on
  • Secure the work properly to the unit for setup and tool bit positioning
    • Do not attempt to hold a drum or rotor steady on the arbor with your hands. Both hands must be free to operate unit
  • Operate the lathe as per manufacturers instructions:
    • Always wear safety glasses or a face shield. Cutting or grinding on an exposed surface such as a rotor will produce flying chips and debris.
    • The lathe has a spindle motor with a great deal of power and torque. Do not wear loose clothing that could be entangled in the rotating parts. Ensure that long hair is properly secured so that it cannot be entangled in the rotating parts. Do not place any part of your body near the rotating parts of the lathe when in operation. Always be aware of the location of the on/off switch so that the lathe can be stopped immediately.
    • Don’t overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times when lathe is in operation or when working around the unit.
