On completion of work activities ensure:

  • Power & gas is turned off and disconnected from all tools and welding kits
  • Unit is tested and all isolations are disconnected
  • All work Permits are signed off
  • Place all hoses, leads, cables and other associated work equipment in a safe location – to reduce risk of trips and damage to equipment
  • Assistance is obtained when handling large / awkward loads.
  • Clean up work area and return to clean & tidy condition.

Handling cylinders:

  • Ensure correct type
  • Secured (use trolleys/hand-trucks)
  • Keep away from anything flammable and oxidizers
  • Keep away from ignition sources
  • Do not drag, slide, roll or drop
  • Do not allow them to strike each other
  • Do not lift by valve
  • Do not suspend (unless manufacturer approved attachment points are provided).
