Operation Sequence

  1. Establish traffic management:
    1. Safe thoroughfare for pedestrians
    2. Exclusion zone around tower, stabilisers and surrounding area to prevent impact
    3. Unauthorised entry. Provide physical barriers (bollards, chains, signs etc.)
  2. Erect the scaffold as per manufacturers’ instructions:
    1. Sort and separate all “like” components
    2. Note: Certification required for erection of scaffold where working platform is 4m or higher
    3. Once erected, a competent person must inspect and certify the tower safe to use. Check:

                                           i. Tower vertical and square
                                          ii. Complete
                                         iii. Castors locked
                                        iv. Legs adjusted correctly
                                         v. Castors, base plates, stabilisers in contact with ground
                                        vi. Toe boards installed on all platforms
                                       vii. Frames locked and secured
                                      viii. Guard rails at correct height to platform
                                        ix. Height does not exceed manufacturer’s specifications
                                         x. Platforms locked and secured with sufficient units per platform
                                        xi. Trapdoor hinge is to outside edge
