Mower Mulcher Attachment Safe Work Method Statement

This Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a generic pre-filled document that outlines the safety steps, general hazards and controls associated with the use of a mower mulcher attached to earthmoving equipment i.e. excavator, skidsteer etc. to push over / remove standing trees, grind stumps to the ground and mulch the trunk and other surrounding vegetation.  This includes planning and preparation, environmental controls, working adjacent to mobile plant, training and communications and operational controls for hazards associated with plant rollover and falling trees and branches.

This SWMS should be used in conjunction with a SWMS that relates to the piece of plant / machinery you are using.

For works carried out on a regular basis a generic SWMS may be prepared and used for those work activities.

Remember: The content of the SWMS should be refined over time and include consultation with workers and other persons conducting a business or undertaking. Prior to each new activity, the SWMS must be reviewed and revised to ensure it applies to the high risk construction work and the actual site you are working at.
