The Steel - Fixing Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive document outlining the safety steps, main hazards, risks and controls associated with steel reinforcing in concrete.
This Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) provides guidance on steel fixing. In particular, this SWMS details the risk management processes and procedures that need to be followed when setting and tying steel reinforcing bar for concrete construction. This SWMS is designed to be used as a stand-alone document however Steel Fixing Work may incorporate other ‘high risk’ construction activities such working at heights, or working with Tilt–up concrete construction (a full list of regulated ‘high risk’ activities is defined in s291 Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011) If any of these listed activities are undertaken as part of a project, a dedicated SWMS must incorporate that activity.
Remember: The content of the SWMS should be refined over time and include consultation with workers and other persons conducting a business or undertaking. Prior to each new activity, the SWMS must be reviewed and revised to ensure it applies to the high risk construction work and the actual site you are working at.
