This Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) is a comprehensive document outlining the safety steps, main hazards, risks and controls associated with lifting workers using an appropriate lifting device/plant and a Work Box, also known as a Man Cage. Some of the hazards included in the document are work box excess swinging, overloading, and pedestrians. This SWMS does not cover the operation of specific items of plant used to perform lifts (such as scissor lifts, boomlift, mobile crane and should be used as an attachment to dedicated SWMS that have been developed for these tasks as per below:
Remember: The content of the SWMS should be refined over time and include consultation with workers and other persons conducting a business or undertaking. Prior to each new activity, the SWMS must be reviewed and revised to ensure it applies to the high risk construction work and the actual site you are working at.
