Position the chain block:

  • Ensure the mounting hook is securely attached to a support structure capable of withstanding in excess of the nominated capacity of the chain block
  • Ensure the block and tackle is no higher than 3m from the ground
  • Lifting path is clear of objects that will hinder the raising and lowering of the object

Test the chain block:

  • Before each use test the chain block before lifting a load

Prepare the work area:

  • Clear area of unauthorised personnel and obstructions
  • Another adult should be nearby for extra safety and assistance but must be well clear of lifting area

Using the chain block:

  • Attach chain block lifting hook to the sling, chain, or load levelling device (not included) ensuring the device is securely attached to the object and is suitably rated to hold the weight
  • Position yourself away from the object to be lifted. Be aware of a sliding or swinging motion of the object if it is not directly under the chain block
